The inverse relationship between economic growth and unemployment rate is known as Okun’s law in the economic literature. According to the importance of Okun's law on economic policy, investigating the relationship between unemployment rate and economic growth is very important at provincial level. Also, with regard to labor mobility between provinces based on economic conditions, spatial and spillover effects are essential in regional studies; therefore, the main objectives of this paper are to investigate Okun's law in Iran's provinces with spatial econometric approach and whether Okun’s law can be used as a rule of thumb for surveying the labor market response to changes in regional economic growth, in Iran's provinces. A panel data set for 30 provinces during period of 2005 to 2013. The results show that unemployment rates and economic growth of provinces have spatial dependence and labor market performance is influenced by macroeconomic situation and its features the economic situation in neighboring provinces. Hence, in this study spatial panel is employed to investigate Okun’s law. The results of spatial panel (SAC) approve accuracy of Okun's law in Iran's provinces; and the development of regional labor market is not limited to the provincial borders and spillovers to other provinces.

The shadow economy is a real phenomenon with significant and complex concepts that requires deep study and attention. For all the countries of the worldespecially developing countries which possess a more expanded volume of these activities, always there are concerns about the growing tendency of shadow economy. Due to the hidden nature of the shadow economy and its unregistration, official statistics don’t reveal the exact status of the governmental economy and since these statistics are applied to policy- making, inexact figures and information can lead to inappropriate political responses. In the present paper, the aim is to investigate the effect of unemployment rate on the shadow economy in 67 developing countries in period of 1999-2009. The paper’s data analysis is System Generalized Method of Moments (System GMM) approach. By and large, the results of this approach show that in the countries under study the unemployment rate has a positive effect on the shadow economy.

Unemployment is one of the most important challenges of Iranian economy that affects the society and economic performance. The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of government size on unemployment rate in Iranian economy. By using the model of Christopoulos, Loizides & Tsionas (2005), the relationship between government size and unemployment has been investigated during 1974-2012. The results of threshold model indicate that when the government size is less than 0.2484, increasing of government size has a significant negative impact on unemployment but after the mentioned threshold value, due to crowding out effect of government intervence, government size has a significant positive impact on unemployment. Also, the results of estimation show that inflation has a significant negative impact on unemployment that confirms Philips curve in Iranian economy.

Decreasing unemployment rate is one of the most striking objects for economic planners and decision makers; and achieves to this, will lead to solve a lot of economic and social problems. According to theory and empirical studies, total factor productivity growth has a determinant role in unemployment rate. This study investigates the impacts of total factor productivity on the unemployment rate in the economy of Iran, based on annual data spanning the period 1971-2009. Results of the study indicate that total factor productivity growth has a significant and negative effect on unemployment rate of Iran's economy in the short-term and long-term. On the one hand, Granger causality test shows two-way causality relationship between unemployment rate and total factor productivity rate in economy of Iran, both in the short-term and the long-term. Thus, promoting the level of technical knowledge (technology) and enhancing motivation of workforce for more and use full work as well as avoiding of determining wages as imperative and other production factors, can move toward increase total factor productivity and reduce unemployment rate of Iran’s economy.
